Make a difference. Every day.
The Internal Medicine Section at Skåne University Hospital (Sus) is a large and dynamic unit characterized by innovation, creativity, and development. The section includes Hospital at Home, intermediate care (IMA), and Sweden's largest Diagnostic Center. In addition, there are over 130 inpatient beds across 8 departments, along with day care, outpatient services, and consultancy in both Malmö and Lund. The care is strongly characterized by a generalist and patient-centered approach and is conducted in close collaboration with emergency care, intensive care, and other adjacent specialties. As such, the section plays a central role in the hospital. Through strategic work with Wise Clinical Choices, patient-centered care, and generalism, we lead the development of Swedish internal medicine. The operations ensure that Sus meets the population's expectations for modern and innovative care of the highest quality.
Within the area of operations, there is an active research environment linked to major public diseases, which also connects to the clinical mission. This provides good opportunities for academic development. We place great value on seeing the whole patient and on active collaboration across traditional specialty boundaries.
JOB DESCRIPTION
We are looking for an associate chief physician for the Internal Medicine Section in Malmö.
The work spans the entire field of internal medicine from intermediate care in an intensive care-near environment to treatment and follow-up in outpatient care. Through Hospital at Home and day care, we challenge traditional forms of care and develop new working methods.
The breadth provides the opportunity for profiling towards different forms of internal medicine care. What unites the assignments is a classical internal medicine perspective and a holistic view of the patient's needs. Wise Clinical Choices and a patient-centered approach permeate our work.
As an associate chief physician, you are a driving part of the team and actively participate in the development and improvement work of the operations. Supervision and education are central parts of the assignment, and you are expected to actively contribute to the education of medical students, residents, and other professional groups.
Your role within the section also includes participation in team-based improvement and development work. The assignment is expected to include on-call duties in our shared on-call lines such as house call, backup call, and Hospital at Home.
QUALIFICATIONS
You who apply are a licensed physician with the authority to practice within Swedish healthcare and have:
- specialist competence in internal medicine
- language skills in Swedish at least corresponding to level C1 according to the Council of Europe's level scale
- completed or planned course in clinical supervision
- full-time service of at least three years (documented effective time)
- clinical skill and independence in internal medicine
- documented teaching and supervision merits.
Disputation and/or specialist examination can be credited for a total of up to six months of clinical service.
We consider experience in development and education, research, project management, or other forms of leadership responsibility such as unit chief physician, study director, or equivalent as highly meritorious. Likewise, competence in intermediate care, Point of Care Ultrasound, and experience working in mobile teams is strongly meritorious.
At a university hospital unit, it is required that physicians have pedagogical experience and education. This can have been acquired through supervision of, for example, nursing and medical students as well as physicians in training and as co- or main supervisors of doctoral students. Clearly describe in your application completed or planned pedagogical courses, experience in supervision, and teaching at various levels.
We are looking for someone who is attentive, reliable, and has the ability to collaborate in a team. Engagement and a development-oriented approach are highly valued. We place great importance on a patient-centered approach and personal suitability.
When you submit your application, you must fill out the questionnaire, which must be complete and correctly filled out. You also need to attach your documents digitally; see under Other what documents you need to send. For us to assess your application, it must be complete.
OTHER
In addition to the electronic application, applicants must attach a medical license and specialist competence certificate. For the position of associate chief physician and chief physician, service certificates must also be attached. For chief physician positions, a degree certificate regarding disputation, a certificate of docent status, and a publication list (divided into original publications, review articles, and other publications) may also be required. NOTE! These digital documents are forwarded for expert assessment, so they must accompany your application. Non-Nordic dissertations must be attached to the application and assessed by the Swedish Council for Higher Education. For any questions, email: [email protected]
